Worksheets to Practice Ordering Negative Numbers of Different Lengths
The previous set of worksheets required students to order sets of negative numbers with the same number of significant digits. The ordering numbers worksheets in this section take things a step further by requireing students to order sets of negative numbers that contain different numbers of digits. This is often a counter-intuitive activity because negative numbers that have more digits are actually smaller than other negative numbers that have fewer digits. Often these concepts require a quick visit back to our friend the number line to sort out, but once the concepts are understood the ordering numbers worksheets in this section will make for great practice or a test to insure everything is well understood. When you're ready for more, the next section will start dealing with decimal negative numbers.
